How to purchase tickets?
Advanced sales of tickets for Smetana’s Litomyšl begin always on the first Wednesday in March at 10 a.m. However a week before that Ticket Packages are available for three evening programmes together and it is also possible to buy patron’s tickets in limited quantities.
Ticketportal provides the sale of tickets via its network. Detailed information on sales, sales outlets, answers to FAQs, means for resolving problems and the full text of business conditions can be found at the relevant links on the website www.ticketportal.cz.
The easiest way to get tickets is to buy them online in the e-shop on the link TICKETS. After choosing the programme the plan of the auditorium is displayed with differently coloured sectors depending on ticket price. Clicking on the selected sector displays a plan with specific numbered seats and you can choose from those that are still vacant. By clicking you move them to the “shopping basket”. On completion of selection with the button “go to basket” you get to the choice of means of collecting and paying for the tickets. Once again the easiest means of collection is the so-called HOMEticket, where you print the electronic ticket at home on your printer. However tickets can also be collected in classical printed form from sales outlets.
In person it is possible to buy tickets in the advanced sales office of Smetana’s Litomyšl (Litomyšl, Jiráskova 133), where there are no other handling fees, or at the sales outlets of the Ticketportal network (list of sales outlets). Tickets can be reserved in advance and then purchased by the set deadline (usually within 3 calendar days), no later however than 60 minutes before the beginning of the programme. Tickets can be reserved by phone on the number +420 461 616 070, in the e-shop on the link TICKETS, where after selecting the place and clicking on the button “go to basket” mark the choice “I want to reserve tickets”. In order to make a reservation in the e-shop it is necessary to register and create an account in which you will find a number for collecting a reservation should you for some reason have not received a confirmation e-mail (it may have ended up in the spam folder). In the first moments of advanced sales the system of the e-shop tends to be overloaded, recording several thousand applications at the same time and tickets go very quickly. Thus you should not waste any time and we recommend registering on the system in advance (on the website www.ticketportal.cz in the link “Login”). Reservation of tickets is possible at the latest 24 hours before the start of the programme.
In a similar way you can order by telephone or online choosing the option of sending tickets by post cash on delivery or after payment of an invoice. However the overall price of the tickets will have a shipping fee added. Tickets can be sent at the latest 3 days before the programme takes place.
In the e-shop it is possible to buy a maximum of 10 tickets for any one programme. Larger numbers of tickets can be purchased at sales outlets or can be ordered by telephone. Remaining tickets are on sale 60 minutes before the start of the programme at the venue.
Claim your discount
For all the festival programmes with the exception of concerts in Nové Hrady, there is a discount of 50 % for disabled persons. In the chateau at Nové Hrady the programme takes place in various parts of the site, where visitors move in poor visibility along garden pathways, and in the case of inclement weather it is even necessary to climb to the third floor of the granary. Thus a visit is quite physically demanding and is not recommended for those with health restrictions. For selected clearly marked programmes there is a discount for children up to 15 years of age and students. In the same way holders of various benefit or payment cards may have discounts only for indicated programmes. The holders of such cards can purchase discounted tickets only for themselves and it is necessary for them to show their entitlement with a valid card in their name together with an ID document.
A document showing entitlement to a discount does not need to be shown when buying the ticket but only on entry to the programme venue. Discounts may not be combined.
VIP tickets
For programmes in the castle courtyard it is possible to purchase so-called VIP tickets, which give holders the right to also visit the VIP centre. Priority is given to festival sponsors but where capacity allows they are available to all (information on the offer and prices at Tel. Usually they include a parking card, meaning that drawing on the benefits begins on entry to the premises of the castle, where the adjacent streets of Jiráskova and Zámecká are closed for normal use and provide parking for VIP guests. These also have a special entrance to the site from Jiráskova street, leading directly to the VIP centre in the former castle brewery. It is open 60 minutes before the beginning of the programme; guests can enjoy free refreshments here and view the installed art exhibition. The VIP centre is also open during the intermissions. After the end of the programme there is usually a buffet. To visit this however a VIP ticket is not sufficient, when entering you need to present an Invitation to a social event – you should ask the contacts given above about this possibility.
Tickets return
Purchased tickets cannot be returned or exchanged. Admission fee can only be refunded in the case that the programme is cancelled or not completed due to inclement weather or other instances of force majeure, and where at least 20 minutes of the programme have not been performed. The right to a refund of the admission fee can only be used in the place of purchase of the ticket. Admission fees paid in the e-shop will be returned automatically to the account from which they were paid. It is not necessary to apply for the return of the payment, as it will take place within 30 days from the day of cancellation of the programme. Tickets bought cash on delivery can be sent back to the advanced sales office in Litomyšl (Smetanova Litomyšl, o.p.s., Jiráskova 133, 570 01 Litomyšl) stating the account number to which the payment should be returned or the address to which the amount should be sent by postal order. The shipping fee is not refunded.
If you have bought tickets but you cannot make it to the programme and your friends and acquaintances are not interested, you can offer the tickets on the Ticket Exchange in the Facebook group Smetana’s Litomyšl. You can also offer your tickets to those interested at the programme venue, either in person or for commission via the “evening cash desk”. You can agree sale on commission on the Tel No. +420 461 616 070, and for sold out programmes on this number they can also help find interested people earlier.
How to obtain tickets for a sold out programme?
There is generally great interest in tickets for Smetana’s Litomyšl and the capacity of the auditorium often is not sufficient to meet the demand. Nonetheless some programmes appear to be sold out already shortly after advanced sales commence, but in reality this is not always the case. Many actual reservations are duplicated, for example in the e-shop all the members of the family try to get tickets and then those they have successfully reserved are not used. Uncollected reservations then gradually return for sale. Sometimes also it is possible to extend the capacity of the auditorium and also sometimes unused parcels of tickets for sponsors and honourable guests also get released. The release of tickets for a selected programme can also be watched out for you by a so-called “Watch Dog”. In the settings for the Watch Dog in the e-shop you place your requirement into a queue. In the case the required tickets become available the first in line is given an automatic reservation with a validity of 48 hours, of which information is sent by e-mail. If you do not buy the tickets in this period they are automatically offered to the next in line.
Purchased tickets cannot be returned so there is a brisk trade in them on the Ticket exchange of the Facebook group for Smetana’s Litomyšl. However it is always necessary to pay serious attention to checking whether these are original tickets either from the universal print run of the company Ticketportal, from the annual exchange of the printed form of the current year of Smetana’s Litomyšl. In no case can it be recommended that you purchase tickets printed at home via HOMEticket, which carries a unique barcode, but which can be printed in an unrestricted number of copies. It is not possible for the organisers to determine who is the rightful owner of a ticket, and so entry is allowed only for the first person to present the ticket with a valid barcode!
The last hope to see a selected programme is to come before the start to the actual venue. This is because sixty minutes before the start the last uncollected reservations are released for sale and are available in the “evening cash desk”. Furthermore here – either in person or for commission via the cash desk – tickets are almost always offered by people who are unable to make it to the programme for various reasons. If you are not successful then a substitute programme might be a visit to the Festival Gardens. Every cloud has a silver lining and your evening does not have to be spoiled!
